Next Season- No Europe
|
If we cant get a seat at the big table, would we better off next season not getting into Europa League and the other thing? Would you rather see us have another crack next season at top 4 without the Thursday/Sunday games? Fact is we don't have the squad for it and could end up 16th 17th or worse. Or is it worth the risk for a few jollies in Slovenia and Albania and the likes?
Do you want the 5th-7th place European Football or not? Yes/No
Me - NO

Yes, a no brainer.
How else can we progress

I think anyone who says no is utterly mental.
Especially from a team that finished 16th last season.

It hurts how small time we are, or how some think we are. We're only one notch up from Palace and Charlton in some eyes. it's really fucking depressing, even more so because we sold up and left home.
Imagine a Spud or a Goon reading this, would be fucking laughing their tits off.

This makes me laugh. We've got a squad capable of finishing in a league position that demands European football.

yes, of course
if we end up in the lower reaches of the table, it won't be because of Europa League, it'll be because we're no different to about 12 other teams in the league who seemingly take turns in having a good season, getting everyone over-excited about cracking the top 6 on a permanent basis before normal service is resumed. Wolves being the most recent example.

No lets bin off europe and the only chance in my lifetime to embark on seeing West Ham in europe in the hope that next season we have yet another worldie with hardly any injuries no Lingard and probably no investment
Next season in my mind we'll be 8-10th at best....West Ham way and all that so lets take Europe go have a laugh at some cracking away days and enjoy the ride. We will never win the league so this is the best we can hope for really......to turn our nose up at it is insane

OP is another of those "I'll be delighted with finishing 17th" happy clapping 'know my place' spanners.

Re: Next Season- No Europe

Not even questionable imho.
Its no good saying the club/board have no ambition if the fan base are willing to sacrafice having a crack at any level of European football.
Besides, could be a very different league next season if stadiums are full.

Yes I would like us to get into Europe in any firm it might attractive decent owners. The difference between us the bottom 14 is we left our home for better times and we are no better off. GSB out

Re: Next Season- No Europe

We will not be close to having another crack at the top 4 next season anyway, so we may as well play in Europe.
Anyone who thinks next season won't be back to normal service being resumed is deluding themselves.

Re: Next Season- No Europe

I can see Norm's point of Champions League or nothing. Europa League qualification wont attract additional players in the way Champions league does & while we have these owners we will always be short of a squad that can manage another 15 say games a season. Especially after a summer with the likes of Rice & Soucek playing in the Euros which will probably almost overlap with Europa games.
In short ... GSB OUT and awaken the sleeping giant ps : Today is the 41st anniversary of our last FA Cup win

I know UEFA are shit and everything, but what makes you think they'll have 2 of their tournaments overlapping?

We need European football to attract decent players and keep the ones we have.
Two or three decent additions and I see no reason why next season can't be as good as this one.....

Yes. Even if we've missed CL, we've got to keep pushing forward. Besides anything else, it'll give fans something to look forward to.

Re: Next Season- No Europe

Well this is just nonsense. Europe makes you attract better players thus why we have to finish top7 this season. Doesn't really matter if we do well in europe or not next season, what's important is that we regularly challenge for the top7. I remember people saying Wolves would finish 16th last year because of the tough schedule and they finished 7th despite having arguably worse depth then we do now. We'll also sign a few players surely

Without Europe we can forget about the possibility of keeping Rice and Lingard.. 4th is very unlikely now, unless Leicester fuck up. But 5th is still doable.
